Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into the bottom of a greased square baking dish.
  4. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  5. In a saucepan, combine milk, sugar, and cornstarch over medium heat, stirring until thickened.
  6. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and vanilla extract.
  7. Gradually add the hot milk mixture to the egg yolks, whisking constantly.
  8. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  9. Pour the custard over the baked crust and let it cool.
  10. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
