Stuffed Onion Rings

Deliciously crispy onion rings stuffed with a creamy cheddar and jalapeño filling, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large onions
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • ½ cup diced jalapeños
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prep the onions: Slice each onion into thick rings, about 1/2 inch wide. Separate the rings, keeping the larger ones for stuffing.
  2. Make the filling: Combine the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, diced jalapeños, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper in a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Stuff the rings: Spoon the filling into each outer onion ring and pack lightly.
  4. Dredge for crunch: Dredge each filled onion ring in flour, then dip into the beaten eggs, and coat with breadcrumbs.
  5. Fry to perfection: Heat oil to about 350°F (175°C) and fry the stuffed rings for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
  6. Drain and serve: Remove the rings from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

Notes

You can prepare the filling a day in advance and assemble the onion rings before frying. For a lighter version, bake or air fry them.
