Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon: In a large pot, heat the chopped bacon over medium heat until crispy and golden brown.

  4. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  5. Toss in the freshly trimmed green beans and pour in the chicken broth.
  6. Bring to a simmer, allowing the green beans to soak in the delicious flavor.
  7. Season the pot with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, then stir well.
  8. Cover the pot and let it cook for 30 to 40 minutes until the green beans reach your desired tenderness.
  9. Finish by stirring in the crispy bacon and serve hot.

Notes

For extra texture, try air frying the green beans or baking them in the oven. Feel free to add other vegetables like carrots or bell peppers.
