Perfect Red Wine Sangria

A refreshingly bold blend of red wine and vibrant fruits, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle of good quality dry red wine
  • 1/4 cup orange liqueur (like triple sec or Cointreau)
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 lime, sliced
  • 1 cup of mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • Sparkling water or soda (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients: Begin by slicing the oranges, lemons, and limes into thin rounds. If you’re using strawberries, remove the stems and slice them in halves.
  2. Combine the liquid ingredients: In a large pitcher, pour the bottle of red wine, followed by the orange liqueur and fresh orange juice. Stir gently to combine these core flavors.
  3. Add the fruit: Gently nestle the sliced fruits and mixed berries into the wine mixture.
  4. Sweeten to taste: Stir in the sugar until it dissolves completely. Adjust sweetness as desired.
  5. Chill: Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 120 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  6. Serve and enjoy: Just before serving, add sparkling water or soda if desired. Pour into glasses filled with ice, including fruits in each pour.

Notes

Make-ahead tips: Sangria keeps well for up to three days in the refrigerator, but add soda just before serving. Experiment with different wines and fruits for unique flavors.
