Enjoy the essence of summer with this delightful homemade peach jam, perfect for spreading on biscuits or drizzling over desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh peaches, peeled and chopped
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 large cinnamon stick
  • ½ cup water
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon pectin

Instructions

  1. Rinse and Prep the Peaches: Score a small “X” at the bottom of each peach, then submerge in boiling water for about 30 seconds.
  2. Blanch and Peel: Transfer peaches to a bowl of ice water, then pit and chop into roughly ½-inch pieces.
  3. Combine Ingredients in the Pot: Mix chopped peaches with sugar, lemon juice, water, and cinnamon stick in a large pot.
  4. Cook and Stir: Place over medium heat, bring to a boil, stirring frequently for 40-50 minutes.
  5. Check the Consistency: Test the jam on a chilled plate; if it holds its shape, it’s ready.
  6. Finishing Touches: Remove the cinnamon stick, ladle into jars, and seal.
  7. Cool and Store: Let cool to room temperature before refrigerating.

Notes

For thicker jam, consider adding pectin. Store sealed jars in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
