Crispy Tuna Melt Patties

Deliciously crunchy patties filled with creamy cheese and savory tuna, perfect for quick meals and gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can Canned Tuna (Drained, water-packed)
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs (Panko or crushed crackers)
  • 1 cup Cheddar Cheese (Shredded; can substitute with Swiss or Pepper Jack)
  • 2 tablespoons Mayo (Optional; Greek yogurt can be used instead)
  • 1 large Egg (Acts as a binder; omit for vegan option)
  • To taste Spices (Red pepper flakes or preferred spices)
  • 4 slices Toasted Bread or English Muffin
  • 2 cups Fresh Salad (A light side salad)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the drained tuna, breadcrumbs, shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise (or Greek yogurt), the egg, and your chosen spices. Mix gently but thoroughly until everything is well combined.
  2. Shape the Patties: With clean hands, shape the mixture into patties about 1/2-inch thick.
  3. Heat the Pan: Preheat your non-stick frying pan over medium heat, adding a splash of olive oil to coat the bottom.
  4. Cook the Patties: Carefully place the patties in the hot pan. Allow them to cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and heated through.
  5. Drain Excess Oil: Once beautifully golden, transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve your patties hot, nestled between toasted bread or on an English muffin, and alongside a vibrant salad.

Notes

Make-ahead: Prepare mixtures a day in advance and store in the fridge. Avoid over-mixing to prevent dense patties.
