  • 1 can evaporated milk (12 oz / 354 ml)
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese (about 8 oz / 225 g)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (about 4 oz / 115 g)
  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted (about 45 g)
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt, adjust to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • Optional: 1 cup panko breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tablespoons melted butter for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the pasta in salted water for 5 minutes, then drain.
  3. Whisk together melted butter and flour in a medium bowl, then gradually add evaporated milk.
  4. Stir in mustard powder, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  5. Add the drained macaroni, cheddar, and mozzarella to the cheese sauce, mixing thoroughly.
  6. Pour the mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  7. Mix panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle on top, if using.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
  9. Rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

You can make this dish ahead of time and store it in the fridge before baking. For variations, add sautéed vegetables or crispy bacon.
