Chicken Wellington: Discover This Savory Delight Today!

Chicken Wellington is a savory dish that features tender chicken breast wrapped in flaky pastry, often accompanied by a rich mushroom duxelles and prosciutto.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 4 slices of prosciutto
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and sauté the mushrooms until they are soft and moisture has evaporated.
  3. Season the chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then sear them in the skillet until golden brown.
  4. Lay out the prosciutto slices on a sheet of plastic wrap, slightly overlapping them.
  5. Spread the mushroom mixture over the prosciutto, then place the chicken on top.
  6. Using the plastic wrap, roll the prosciutto around the chicken tightly and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  7. Roll out the puff pastry and place the chicken in the center, wrapping it securely.
  8. Brush the pastry with the beaten egg and make a few slits on top for steam to escape.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  10. Let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can include herbs like thyme or rosemary in the mushroom mixture.
  • Make sure to seal the pastry well to prevent leaks during baking.
  • Serve with a side of vegetables or a salad for a complete meal.
