Snowball (Russian Tea Cake) Cookies You’ll Love to Bake!

Deliciously buttery and nutty cookies rolled in powdered sugar, perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Additional powdered sugar for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the vanilla extract and mix well.
  4. Gradually add the flour, chopped nuts, and salt, mixing until combined.
  5. Shape the dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
  6. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes.
  9. Roll the warm cookies in additional powdered sugar until fully coated.
  10. Allow to cool completely on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

  • For a variation, try adding chocolate chips or different nuts.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
