- 1 cup grits
- 4 cups water
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup green onions, chopped
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a pot, bring water to a boil and add grits, cooking until thickened.
- Stir in butter, milk, and cheese until melted and smooth.
- In a skillet, sauté shrimp with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until pink.
- Combine the shrimp with the grits mixture and fold in green onions.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and bake for 30 minutes.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños to the shrimp mixture.
- Can be made ahead of time and stored in the refrigerator before baking.
