  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup red food coloring
  • 1/2 cup green food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with liners.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter into two bowls. Color one half with red food coloring and the other half with green food coloring.
  8. Using a spoon, alternate spoonfuls of red and green batter into each cupcake liner to create a marbled effect.
  9. Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  10. Allow to cool before frosting as desired.

  • For a richer flavor, consider adding chocolate chips to the batter.
