Holiday Thumbprint Cookies with Jam: A Festive Delight!

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup jam (your choice of flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg yolk and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Use your thumb or the back of a spoon to create an indentation in the center of each ball.
  7. Fill each indentation with your choice of jam.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
