Gordon Ramsay’s Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

A gourmet twist on a classic comfort food, blending succulent beef, creamy cheese, and toasted brioche.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 small green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup milk (warm)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or white American cheese
  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns (toasted)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • Extra provolone or cheddar cheese slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat, breaking it up with a spatula until golden brown (about 5 minutes).
  2. Sauté the chopped onions, diced bell peppers, and minced garlic for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Season the mixture with Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper; simmer for 3-5 minutes.
  4. Make the cheese sauce by melting the butter in a saucepan, whisking in flour, then gradually adding warm milk and shredded cheese until smooth.
  5. Toast the buns with butter in a pan for 1-2 minutes until golden.
  6. Assemble the Sloppy Joes with the beef mixture on the buns and drizzle with cheese sauce.
  7. Serve immediately with your choice of sides.
