Cruffins

Delicious cruffins are flaky pastries with various fillings that provide a delightful experience for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 packet instant yeast
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional fillings (e.g., jam, chocolate, cream)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Whisk until evenly mixed.
  2. In a separate bowl, warm the milk to lukewarm and dissolve the instant yeast in it.
  3. Add the yeast mixture to the dry ingredients with softened butter, egg, and vanilla, mixing until the dough starts to form.
  4. Dust a clean surface with flour and knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour.
  5. Roll out the dough into a rectangle, approximately 1/4 inch thick, and spread softened butter and sprinkle sugar on top.
  6. Fold the dough into thirds like a letter and cut into strips about 1 inch wide.
  7. Twist each strip slightly and place them upright in a muffin tin.
  8. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  9. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let them cool slightly, fill with desired fillings, and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Allow dough to rise fully for a lighter texture. Consider experimenting with different fillings to suit your taste.
