Crème Brûlée French Toast is a delicious breakfast dish that combines the creamy texture of crème brûlée with the classic flavors of French toast, creating a sweet and indulgent morning treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 8 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.
  2. Arrange the slices of bread in a baking dish and pour the egg mixture over the bread, ensuring each slice is well soaked.
  3. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  4. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and set.
  6. Remove from the oven and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top.
  7. Use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar until it forms a crispy crust, or place under the broiler for a few minutes, watching closely to prevent burning.
  8. Let cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use vanilla bean paste instead of vanilla extract.
  • Serve with fresh berries or maple syrup for added sweetness.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and baked just before serving.
