Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium apples
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring
  • Food coloring (pink and blue)
  • Wooden sticks or skewers
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the apples thoroughly, then insert wooden sticks into the tops.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil without stirring until it reaches the hard crack stage (around 300°F or 150°C).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract and cotton candy flavoring.
  5. Divide the mixture into two bowls and add pink food coloring to one and blue to the other.
  6. Dip each apple into the colored candy coating, swirling to create a marbled effect.
  7. Place the dipped apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden.
  8. If desired, sprinkle with additional sprinkles before the coating sets.

Notes

  • Make sure to use a candy thermometer for accurate temperature readings.
  • Allow the candy coating to cool slightly before dipping the apples to prevent the apples from becoming too hot.
  • Store the finished candy apples in a cool, dry place to maintain their texture.
