Chicken Shawarma with Garlic Sauce is a delicious Middle Eastern dish featuring marinated chicken wrapped in pita bread and topped with a creamy garlic sauce.

  • 2 lbs chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons ground cumin
  • 2 tablespoons ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 4 pita breads
  • 1 cup garlic sauce
  • Fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers) for serving

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix garlic, cumin, coriander, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, olive oil, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the grill or oven to medium-high heat.
  4. Cook the marinated chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and juices run clear.
  5. Remove the chicken from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing it thinly.
  6. Warm the pita breads on the grill for a minute.
  7. Assemble the shawarma by placing sliced chicken in the pita, adding garlic sauce and fresh vegetables.
  8. Wrap the pita and serve immediately.

  • For extra flavor, marinate the chicken overnight.
  • Adjust the amount of garlic in the sauce according to your preference.
  • Serve with pickles or fries for a complete meal.
