- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup ice water
- 4 cups apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- In another bowl, combine sliced apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, and lemon juice.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into rectangles.
- Place apple mixture on one half of each rectangle, fold over, and seal edges.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
