Classic French Toast

Experience the joy of crispy, golden-brown French toast, perfect for a comforting breakfast or special brunch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 thick slices of brioche bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Maple syrup for serving
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Fresh berries for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt in a large bowl until frothy.
  2. Prepare thick slices of day-old bread, and submerge each slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides.
  3. Heat the skillet over medium heat and melt the butter until bubbly.
  4. Cook the soaked bread slices until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Serve warm with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries if desired.

Notes

For a healthier version, try cooking in an air fryer. Soaking bread for just 30 seconds prevents sogginess.
