Apple Streusel Bars: Discover the Secret to Perfection!

Delicious and easy-to-make Apple Streusel Bars with a buttery crust and a sweet apple filling topped with a crumbly streusel.

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 4 cups peeled and sliced apples
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon, and mix until combined.
  4. Press half of the mixture into the bottom of a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. In another bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice and spread them over the crust.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apples.
  7. If using, sprinkle the oats and nuts on top.
  8. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.

Notes

  • For a sweeter filling, add more sugar to the apples.
  • Serve warm with ice cream for a delicious dessert.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
