Chicken and Biscuits

A comforting homemade chicken and biscuits recipe, featuring golden biscuits, juicy chicken, and a rich, creamy gravy.

Ingredients

  • Chicken Breasts or Thighs
  • All-purpose Flour
  • Butter (melted and cold, cut into cubes)
  • Whole Milk
  • Chicken Broth
  • Baking Powder
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Onions (optional)
  • Garlic (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken pieces with salt and pepper, then sear in a Dutch oven until golden brown. Remove from pan.
  2. Melt butter in the pot and sauté onions and garlic until fragrant. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and whisk to create a roux.
  3. Gradually pour in chicken broth and milk, whisking until smooth. Let it simmer and thicken, then return chicken to the pot and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir in cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs, then add milk until just combined.
  5. Spoon dough over chicken mixture and bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 20 minutes until biscuits are golden brown.
  6. Let cool slightly, then serve in bowls.
